Create a New Workstation to run FPA on the Network, Workstation or Profile.

Step 1. Load Pervasive Client on the Workstation.
Step 2. Run [ fpa_install_new_workstation ] to install the FPA System.
Step 3. Your FPA Icon will be placed on your Desktop.
Step 4. Crystal Run Time will be installed on your Workstation.
Step 5. Look at the [ Visio File ] to see what to do to install the Workstation if you are still unclear what to do.

Server Update to run the FPA System on the Network.

Step 1. Load Pervasive Server.
Step 2. Run [ fpa_install_new_workstation ] to install the FPA System.
Step 3. Your FPA Icon will be placed on your Desktop.
Step 4. Crystal Run Time will be installed on your Server.
Step 5. Look at the [ Visio File ] to see what to do to install the Server if you are still unclear what to do.

Profile Update Installing Crystal Runtime Setup.


Step 1. Log into this workstations network using their UserID and Password.
Step 2. Locate the FPA Folder on the Server and Open it.
Step 3. Locate the Crystal Folder inside the FPA Folder.
Step 4. Run setup.exe in the Crystal Folder. Take all defaults.
Step 5. Locate the ws_install Folder inside of the FPA Folder.
Step 6. Locate the ws_install_pdf Folder inside of the FPA Folder/ws_install Folder.
Step 7. Run dbexdrvrwin_en_200401.exe this creates a Adobe .dll answer no to all backup errors.
Step 8. When you have run setup.exe and created the Crystal Folder in the users profile Windows Folder
Step 9. Copy all files in the [ Crystal Folder ] to User profile System32 Folder.
Step 10. Outlook must be installed if you want to email the reports from the FPA System.

Data Path Information.



If you receive the Message Wrong Datapath.
You may correct the Datapath to your SERVER by doing the following:

  • Go to your Desktop.
  • Go to My Computer.
  • Go to your Drive C:
  • Locate your machines WINDOWS/WINNT Folder Click it open.
  • Locate AAS2.INI file Click it open.
  • Locate the Datapath in the AAS2.INI file change the letter to your SERVER DRIVE letter.
  • Datapath=A thru Z:\fpa\ EXAMPLE : Datapath=F:\fpa\

FPA NEW WORKSTATION INSTALLATION



  • Microsoft has related to us that our programs will run much faster when they are running from your MACHINE and the data is stored on the SERVER.
  • Once the installation to your SERVER is complete you are ready for the next step.
  • This must be done on all your workstations one time to establish a FPA Folder.
  • The next step will copy the Programs and Required Folders from the SERVER to your MACHINE.
  • When you have successfully updated your MACHINE this will not have to be done again. The regular install will take care of your MACHINE with future updates.

    · Desktop
    · Start
    · Run
    · Browse
    · Find your Server drive.
    · Locate the Fpa folder Click open
    · Locate the Ws_Install folder Click OPEN.
    · Locate fpa_install_new_workstation.EXE
    · Click OK to run the Installation.
    . Installation will create Crystal runtime locate Data Bases load all Programs Create Desktop Icon.

FPA (Icon) Change Location:


  • To change your Desktop Icon right Click on the FPA ICON located on your DESKTOP and choose Properties.
  • Point Desktop Icon to your C: Drive use the EXAMPLE below for reference.
  • This allows your programs to be executed from your machines Drive C: this must be done after you have completed the Current Install.


Create Run Time Crystal instructions.


  • Go to Desktop.
  • Click on Start.
  • Click on Run.
  • Type c:\fpa\crystal\setup.exe
  • Click OK to run.
  • Click next to all inquires do not change any defaults for Crystal.
  • Run Time Crystal is now installed.

This will instruct you what to do if you are in a Profile environment.

Register Run Time Crystal instructions


I am getting a Caption BOX when attempting to print a Report. This will solve that problem.

  • Go to Desktop.
  • Click on Start.
  • Click on Run.
  • Type regsvr32.exe C:\fpa\crystl32.OCX
  • If C: is not your Workstation letter change to your drive letter.
  • Click OK to run.
  • Your machine should have this message displayed.
  • Crystal was registered properly if this is present.
  • Click OK to continue.

Install the Acrobat Reader


  • Go to your Desktop.
  • Click on Start and Run.
  • If F: is not your SERVER letter change to your Drive Letter.
  • Browse for the folder f:\FPA\ws_install\ws_install_pdf on your Server or Workstation Click OK.

  • Run and execute the two setups in this folder.

  • When it asks you to backup a file from Previous Version hit OK to continue.

  • How can you back up a Previous Version when it has never been installed is beyond me.

  • Click OK until the Pop UP Box quits displaying the Message Backup Cannot find Backup File.
  • When you have executed the two installs go to your Local Drive that you just updated and do the following.
  • Locate your Windows Folder open the Crystal Folder
  • COPY all your .dll's from this Crystal Folder to your System32 Folder in Windows.
  • Get Forest Products Accounting to give you the latest file crpe32.dll and copy to your windows\system32 folder.
  • This allows Terminal Services to run the Adobe Function correctly.

Print from Adobe Acrobat


  • Run the report in Fiber that you want to send to Outlook.
  • From the top of the report Select

  • Click on the Envelope with the Red Arrow running through it.

  • The following box will appear
  • Locate in the first Drop Down Box the Adobe Format (PDF) and the Second Drop Down Box Microsoft Mail (MAPI) to send the report.
  • Click OK when ready to send.

  • Enter your E-Mail Address when this Box appears:
  • Click SEND when ready the report will be attached to the E-Mail.

FOREST PRODUCTS SOFTWARE will not run properly on my Machine ?


  1. I purchased a new PC and my FPA System will not run NOTIFY FOREST PRODUCTS ACCOUNTING you have a number of technical changes to perform.
  2. PERVASIVE is installed and running ?
  3. Did I Load Pervasive on all Workstations and the SERVER ?
  4. Did I load the Forest Products Accounting software to my SERVER, PEER, or Workstation ?
  5. Did I copy the programs from the SERVER to my machine Look at Example?
  6. Do I have a AAS2.INI file in my Windows Folder ?
  7. Help create a AAS2.INI file in my Windows Folder Look at Example?
  8. Did I check my Windows Folder for the AAS2.INI file Datapath statment to see if it pointing to the proper place Look at Example?
  9. Do I have a FPA ICON on my machine ?

  11. Caption Box appears while attempting to print in the FPA System do Steps 12 thru 13 to correct the Caption Box problem.

  17. When the complete system is Installed and running properly you need to copy the old FPS folder from where ever it is stored place it on a backup and delete it from the Workstation or Server it resides.
  18. The FPS system has large files that needs removing.


Company File Corrupted.



If you receive the Message File Access Error file Fcomp.dat.

  • Contact AAS immediately.

Corrupted File Error.



If you receive the Message FM2 File Corrupted.
  • Pervasive is not running on your System for some reason.
  • Click abort.
  • Restart your SERVER Pervasive is not running.
  • Contact AAS if this does not correct the problem.

FPA download Current Version.


  • Use your WebBrowser type WWW.AAS1.COM this starts AAS WEBPAGE.
  • Locate FPA Current Updates in the Contents Section.
  • Click on this Link.
  • Enter your USERID.
  • Enter your PASSWORD call AAS Phone 1-800-237-0252 Ext 13 if you forgot it.
  • Click Submitt Request.
  • Click Current FPA Updates.
  • When the popup appears SAVE to load to your Machines temporary download file.
  • This will copy the Download to your temp folder.

Forest Products Workstation Update.


  • When a new FPA Update for your Server has been installed the following Menu will POP up when the Version on the Server does not match the Version on the Workstation.
  • Click (Update to New Version Now!) to update your workstation. This process will copy all the current program files to your Workstation.



  • Choosing CANCEL will not let you continue.

Install the Acrobat print Function.


  • This feature will allow you to create a ACROBAT REPORT in Fiber.

  • You must have Outlook installed on this Workstation for the feature to work.

Missing file check ftpcul.dat


  • If you have completed a recent update you could get this Missing File.
  • Call Forest Products Accounting for the Password.
  • Click your FPA Icon on your Desktop.
  • When FPA Login Code appears TYPE Code:@@@ TYPE Password: Todays Password Hit Enter.
  • We are insuring all files in FPA System are present this file was not present in your system.

  • When you have completed the above, LOG out and Log in your normal way.

Change your Machines AA2.INI file


  • Datapath AAS2.INI file file is stored in the Windows Folder on your C: drive.
  • The AAS2.INI files tells the FPA System where your DATA files are located.
  • The following six steps allows you to change the AAS2.INI file.

    • Step 1. Desktop
    • Step 2. Click My Computer.
    • Step 3. Click C:
    • Step 4. Click on your Windows FOLDER .
    • Step 5. Locate your AAS.INI file.
    • Step 6. Click on AAS2.INI.
    • Step 7. Insert in front of [Preferences]
    • Step 8. callingpath=c:\fpa This tells where to load your new programs.

    • Change the Datapath= to what ever your Server Drive Letter is mapped to.
    • Change the Company to your Company Number.

  • Create my Machines AA2.INI file

    • The data file is stored in your Server Drive FPA Folder.
    • Step 1. Go to your Desktop
    • Step 2. Click My Computer.
    • Step 3. Locate your Server Drive Click F: or what your (Server Drive) Letter is.
    • Step 5. Locate your FPA folder and open it.
    • Step 6. Locate your AAS2.INI file inside your FPA Folder.
    • Step 6. Right Click and Copy.
    • Step 7. Go to your Desktop and my computer.
    • Step 8. Locate your C:/Windows or Winnt Folder and Right Click and Paste.
    • Step 9. Check my AAS2.INI file Datapath for accuracy AAS2.INI file ?

    JavaRunTime Installation.

    Note: Before you Install Pervasive make sure you have no anti-virus sessions running.
    If you do not STOP them before the install Pervasive.sql will not install correctly.
    When you attempt to run FPA you will get a Message Error #90 Pervsive is not running correctly.


    Please install JavaRun time.

    Remove Cache Engine from Workstations and Servers.

      Instructions for removing the Pervasive Cache from your Workstations and Server.

      • Click START.
      • Click Programs.
      • Click Pervasive.sql V8

      • Click Control Center

      • Follow the Pervasive Control Center Menu to set the Cache Engine off.
      • Click the '+' until you get to the Performancing Tuning.
      • Then Click on Use Cache Engine and set the Current Value: OFF.
      • Then Click OK to complete.

      AAS2.INI Access Issues

    1. This was changed for you to know that the AAS2.INI file in the Windows Directory is PROTECTED
    2. You must change the attributes from Read Only.
    3. Follow instructions below to change the AAS2.INI from Read Only.
    4. Desktop
    5. My Computer
    6. C:Drive
    7. Windows Folder
    8. Locate aas2.ini
    9. Right Click Proerties
    10. Remove the READ ONLY Attribute.
    11. CNTRL F10 will allow you to continue if you have problems changing the Attribute.

    12. AAS2.INI missing callingpath statement

      This file is located in your Workstation C:Drive WINDOWS or WINNT folder.

      • You must insure that the callingpath statment is in the AAS2.INI file in the Windows Folder.
      • If this line is missing the Workstation will NEVER Update.
      • Go to your Desktop and Select My Computer.
      • Select your C:Drive.
      • Locate the Windows folder and OPEN it.
      • Find the AAS2.INI file open it. This should be a Note Pad.
      • Insert a Blank Line in front of [preferences]
      • Type callingpath=C:\fpa
      • Save this in your Windows directory folder.

      Missing Version Number

      • Go to your Desktop Click on my computer locate your Server Drive.
      • Open up the FPA Folder use your pull down BAR to go to the bottom of the folder and locate Version.ini
      • Open this Notepad and after the [Version] statement insert the line Version=4.03.?? this line is missing.

        This is WRONG !!!

        This is CORRECT !!!

      • ?? is what ever version number you are currently on.
      • Save this INI file.,
      • Double Click on the FPA ICON on your Desktop.
      • You will now be prompted to update your Workstation.
